Bahasa Indonesia is taught from Foundation to Year 6 as a specialist subject at Tootgarook Primary School. Students are introduced to a range of basic conversation words as well as topics including, school, family, colours, numbers and sharing hobbies to celebrate similarities and differences.
Culturally, students learn about Indonesia as a neighbour of Australia, locate the country on a map and identify the Indonesian flag.
Being able to listen and read short texts is a focus as well as being able to create bilingual texts such as posters and stories.
