The STEM program started with some excitement this year. The students had an introductory lessons in which they discussed the learning, behaviour and safety expectations in the STEM makerspace. Students have been introduced to robotics, they met the Edison robots and activated their programs by driving the robots over special barcodes. Students also interacted with Tobbie the six legged robot. This has provided opportunity for students to use their hands for guiding Tobbie around the circle in the ‘follow me’ mode. Tobbie provided a lot of laughter with its lights and sound effects and created an opportunity for students to think about motion sensors. Judging by the excitement of the students STEM will continue to be a subject they enjoy.
