Digital Technologies

Students at Tootgarook Primary School develop many facets of their learning through the use of digital technology. Each of our Year 3-6 classrooms have close to a 1:1 ratio of notebooks for students, with a trolley of iPads available for use throughout the junior building.

Every year, students are explicitly taught the importance of Digital Safety, providing opportunities for students to explore their own internet use and the changes they may need to make. These lessons are made in line with the recommendations from the eSafety website, with lessons also ready to be taught in response to concerning behaviours.

Across Years 3-6, staff and students utilise the Google Applications platform to provide opportunities for students to familiarise themselves with apps such as Google Classroom and Google Drive. This not only assist with their Digital Technologies capabilities, but it prepares them for secondary school where the Google Applications are primarily used across our feeder schools.

Within the classroom our students strive to achieve personal excellence within Digital Technology. Teachers facilitate this by both incorporating key topic areas into a digital landscape and empowering students to challenge themselves. Digital Technologies is integrated throughout all curriculum areas to continue to develop their ability to use a wide range of programs.
