Visual Arts
The Visual Art program at Tootgarook Primary School is designed to encourage and challenge students to achieve personal excellence in an enjoyable and supportive environment. The artwork students produce is a direct result of Inquiry Units undertaken in the classroom as well as stand alone units based on well-known artists both past and present. Our Arts program also includes community events, cultural celebrations, global projects, the acknowledgement of Indigenous Australians and the exploration of unique materials and resources.
Throughout their time at Tootgarook Primary School, students will get the opportunity to explore a wide variety of different art media such as drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, sculpture, construction and textiles. Students learn to communicate through their art, respond to the artworks of others and gain an appreciation of the arts through the study of established artists.
Students attend one 60 minute session of Art a week with their class. They have the opportunity to participate in extra curricula activities such as lunchtime art clubs and are encouraged to create an artwork for the annual Art and Music Festival.
The Art Room at TPS is a wonderful place of creativity and exploration. It is a spacious, well-equipped and inspiring learning environment.
The artworks produced by our talented students are celebrated and displayed around the school as well as on our online blogging platform DB Primary. Please visit the Art page to see what the TPS artists are currently working on.
