Principal's Report

Latest news from Mr Whitworth.... 40 years of service to the Department of Education:

The Recognition of Service ceremony is an annual event that recognises and celebrates dedication, loyalty and longevity of service to the Department of Education.

This year’s ceremony was on Sunday 19 June 2022 at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne. Recipients received a personalised Certificate of Recognition and commemorative booklet. It was a great afternoon of celebration and reflection.

Of the 384 recipients, 219 were recognised for 40 years of service; 104 for 45 years; 50 for 50 years; 6 for 55 years, and 5 for 60 years.

Grade 1 - 2

In Year two math we are learning 3D shapes. We had a delicious time creating 3D shapes with mini marshmallows. We worked together to make our shapes then counted the vertices, edges and faces of our shapes.

In Year 1/2 we have conducted experiments through our learning that we are all scientists. We enjoyed creating and testing out bubble wands, which were a huge success!

Zones of Regulation - students have been learning how to regulate their feelings during a special program that has been run throughout this term. For more information about the program please click on the link below.

The 3/4's enjoyed using the donated jars to create their Jars of Happiness based on a Wellbeing picture story book that they read as a class. Students filled their jars with things that make them happy and decorated them with coloured paper.

Grade 5/6

On Wednesday, the 5/6 students headed down to Trueman’s Road Oval to play soccer for the Winter Lightning Premierships. Our students played phenomenally and represented Tootgarook Primary School with nothing but pride. Both teams were competitive and showed great sportsmanship throughout the whole day. Go Toot!

The Year 5/6 girls attended the Winter Lightning Premierships for netball. The Year 5 and Year 6 netball teams played very well together, with each team winning at least one game. The girls had an excellent day and enjoyed getting to play the sport they all love with their friends. A special thanks goes out to Rachael for coming along with us and coaching the Year 6 girls team. Well done to all of our incredible netball players!

Year 5 and 6 students participated in the Winter Lightning Premierships, an interschool sport day for schools across the Southern Peninsula. 14 of our wonderful students chose to represent our school in table tennis at Eastbourne Primary School. After weeks of practice, our students were ready to go and didn’t they show it, each team winning at least one match. Special mention to Ryan Hardy and Fisher Sinclair who managed to place third in their pool with an 8 win and 2 loss ratio. Well done to all of our players! They represented our school with great respect and integrity!
