Latest news from Mr Whitworth.... TPS Primary School Landscape Vision

While we are very excited about the Shade Sails at the front of the school our State Government funding is providing us, we also want to draw attention to the landscape component that is being provided to us by a donated third party.  While most of this will be the re-development of the space, at the front of the school.

School Council’s Building and Grounds Sub Committee will be making a strong presence in how our future is laid out in phases 2 and 3.  A few years ago the vision of ‘indigenous and identity’ was established.  Indigenous was to represent native flora and identity was to pay respect to the decision to name our school houses after local animals.

Wargil-Pelican

Woorruk-Frog

Warup-Fish

Over the course of late 2021 and early 2022, our Building and Grounds, led by Paul King, has been instrumental in maintaining this vision, especially in their work at the front of the school.  Constant works in maintaining the neatness of the area and the upkeep of the  vision has been such an important symbol of this.

Phase 2&3 of our Project, represents the elements of our vision of a sensory garden development, enhancing the wellbeing at the school for all students.

While the long term landscape plan is still in development, we hope our first stage implementation gives the school community an idea of what is to come.

Fundraising - Colour Run

Our Fun Run Day is coming up fast, June 1st....

The Crazy Colour Day is all about Fun and it’s not that far away!!!

Have you created your child’s profile yet???

Jump online now to register to be part of a fantastic fundraiser for our school. It will be a huge colourful mess and is undoubtably one of the most exciting days on our school’s calendar, with everyone’s participation the aim, so please make sure they attend of the day and cheer the other kids on!

How do I create my child’s profile?

Firstly, go to schoolfunrun.com.au and create a student profile page.

Everything to do with your fundraising revolves around this page. The great thing about online fundraising is that you can share the link to your child’s profile with friends and family via email, SMS and Social Media.

Students who raise just $10 will be able to choose a prize! The more they raise, the better their reward – don’t forget to check these out in the sponsorship form!

Not only can you support the school and students with your sponsorship – but you can join in on the fun! We would love to welcome parents and family members to attend the Crazy Colour Day. If you would like to volunteer on the day, please get in touch.

Education Week

Celebrating Education Week at Tootgarook Primary School

This year, Education Week runs from 22–28 May. The theme, ‘150 Years of Public Education’ commemorates the past, celebrates the present and imagines the future of education in Victoria.

Education Week is an opportunity for our primary school to highlight our education journey.

This year, Tootgarook Primary School will be 68 years old. On Monday July 12 1954 - Mrs. Wordsworth and her school children vacated the local hall and moved into the newly constructed Tootgarook Primary School No: 4661. Over the years we have seen many changes to our small community based school.

Tootgarook Primary School will be celebrating Education Week by running a variety of activities throughout the week and also the week before and after. Please see the attached flier to see these activities and opportunities families have to join us over the next few weeks.

Recently the Student Health Ambassadors had a meeting where we had a lovely lady, Marlene from Rosebud Bunnings come to help is recreate our garden.  She gave us lots of vegie. The winter vegies she gave us were cabbage, spinach, silver beet, peas, leeks, turnips, radishes, parsnips, cauliflower and broccoli. She even gave us 1000 wiggly worms to put in our worm farm.

On this very day the Student Health Ambassadors had to help plant all the vegies and put sugar cane around the plants in the garden.  When we finished with the plants we watered them with Seasol mixed in water, which kind of stank a lot.  Finally wee put 1000 worms in the worm farm. Then we said goodbye to Marlene.
